Pre & Post Natal

Pilates is very adaptable for pregnancy at any stage. The exercises build core strength: if abdominal, back and pelvic floor muscles are toned, they will support a more comfortable pregnancy & delivery.

Pilates is also famous for helping new moms get their figures back Post Natal.

Confidence & Movement

Confidence & Movement: Clients develop a keen understanding of what happens as the body ages. Pilates teachers can change the mind-set for the aging adult that you don’t have to be afraid. We can all still work out, load joints and be flexible. There are plenty of exercises for beginners. When taught well, clients are given a ‘firm’ foundation in positive movements that build into their skill set.

Arthritis & Healthy Aging

After age 50, your joints and spine have experienced a degree of degeneration.

Pilates is particularly good for arthritis because it can be tailored to meet individual needs. Strengthening and stretching exercises can help reduce muscle stiffness and improve joint mobility, flexibility and strength. Pilates is gentle; it does not stress your joints or add burden to ligaments and cartilage that surround your joints. Exercise helps with diabetes, mood, pain and heart disease and on and on. Each client starts right where they are, no matter what your condition. Pilates offers that opportunity in a way that no other exercise modality offers

Disabilities

These Methods can be highly personal. In a private session, it allows you to navigate all kinds of equipment, the load, the range of motion, targeting certain areas. A rigorous program can be designed to allow a person to get stronger, more flexible and achieve better balance without exacerbating any of the symptoms. Creating options is key!

Cordination & Balance

Flow of Mind

Pilates for MS

Pilates includes core exercises for stabilization, balance, back and spine strengthening that improves posture, and dynamic flexibility that relieves muscle spasticity. It can also help to loosen up stiff joints and muscles and provide relaxation. Pilates is frequently used in physical therapy sessions to address problem areas and help improve people’s abilities to carry out a normal life

Pilates for Everyday Function

Most exercise techniques focus on superficial muscles in the body and pump them up for effect. This is fine if bulk is your goal; however, thick, stiff muscles are not necessarily an ideal. But sheer mass inhibits a muscle’s ability to move freely. Lean muscles are more efficient and create a stronger movement especially without pain. Daily activities  require strong core muscles, good posture and alignment. These are key elements in proper muscle use and make even the most difficult tasks seem effortless.

Pilates was designed to be practiced each day creating an intent for body perfection. To be ‘present’ in each movement is necessary.
